Medium vs. Large Monos Luggage: Which One Should You Choose?

Monos Carry-On Pro & Monos Check-In Medium side by side

When planning for a trip, choosing the right luggage can make all the difference. Recently, I found myself facing the dilemma of whether to get a medium or large-sized Monos luggage for my upcoming 10-day trip to Hawaii. I already loved my Monos Carry-On Pro and wanted to get another luggage. After much contemplation, I opted for the Check-In Medium luggage, but looking back, I wish I had gone for the Check-in Large. Here’s why.

For my trip, I had already planned to bring my Monos Carry-On Pro luggage, but I needed more space. The medium-sized luggage seemed like a practical choice at the time since it was cheaper. However, as someone who likes to take a lot of pictures with multiple outfits planned for each day, along with shoes, accessories, and other essentials, I found myself struggling to fit everything in comfortably. I still managed to make it work, but when I travel, I prefer to be comfortable and not have to worry or stress about little things.

What did the medium luggage fit?

  • 4 tops
  • 3 shorts
  • 7 dresses
  • 3 cover ups
  • 7 swimsuits
  • 7 Workout outfits (sports bras/tops + shorts)
  • 5 pairs of pajamas
  • 12 pairs of underwear
  • 6 bras
  • 2 pairs of shoes
  • 3 pairs of sandals
  • 12 pairs of socks
  • 1 towel
  • 2 pairs of pants
  • Water shoes & other gear (surfing top)
  • makeup
  • toiletries

Again, my medium luggage fit quite a bit and after weighing it, I discovered I still had room to spare within the weight limit. I was concerned that if I had bought the large luggage, it might exceed the 50 lb weight limit. However, since I had 10 lbs to spare in my medium luggage, I could have gotten a large. In hindsight, opting for the larger suitcase would have made packing much more convenient. With the larger luggage, I could have packed more comfortably without the need to squeeze everything in.

Another aspect to consider in terms of long-term investment is that a large luggage would be more suitable for longer trips in the future lasting 2+ weeks. It would also come in handy for bringing back gifts, shopping, and souvenirs. Additionally, if you are traveling to colder destinations, the extra space would allow you to pack bulkier items such as sweaters, jackets, boots, and pants.

If you’re someone who likes to pack minimally and does not need a lot of space then a Check-In Medium luggage would be perfect for you. Ultimately, the choice between a medium and large luggage depends on your personal preferences and travel style. It’s important to consider your wants and needs, be intentional with your choices, and choose a luggage size that fits your lifestyle.

For a 10-day trip like mine, I would recommend opting for Check-in Large luggage for the added convenience and space if you plan to wear multiple outfits for a day. However, the decision should be based on what works best for you.

Happy travels!
